Project Overview
In late 2024, the CleanCo Swanbank E power station completed an $80 million overhaul that boosted its output and efficiency, allowing it to reach a record 385MW. At the same time, CleanCo was beginning the redevelopment of the Swanbank site into a broader energy precinct, marked by construction of a grid-scale battery energy storage system and the exploration of new technologies including a NAS Battery pilot.

Swanbank E Overhaul Details
Purpose
To improve performance, efficiency and emissions at one of Australia's most efficient gas-fired power stations.
Completion
The $80 million upgrade was finished in late 2024, delivered safely and in full.
Outcome
Swanbank E achieved a new record peak output of 385MW, cementing its role in maintaining Queensland's energy reliability and enabling the transition to an Energy Precinct with new lower emission energy storage and generation technologies.
